Decide to be happy when you wake up in the morning.

Happiness is a decision. But don’t wait until after breakfast or after lunch or when you get home from work to decide it’s time to be happy. It won’t happen.

As soon as you wake up, decide to be happy. As soon as you open your eyes, say “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.” You don’t have to think of anything specific that you are thankful for. Just say, ““Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.” The vibrations of thankfulness will resonate out into the Universe and will connect with other thankful vibrations and then reconnect to you. This will start your day with a “good vibe.”

IT’S NOT HAPPY PEOPLE WHO ARE THANKFUL. IT’S THANKFUL PEOPLE WHO ARE HAPPY. I don’t recall where I heard this but truer words were never spoken.

Have an Attitude of Gratitude.

A grateful mind cannot be sad or depressed. You cannot count the things you are grateful for and at the same time feel bad.

Be grateful for all things. It’s easy to be grateful for big things like our health, our family, our home, our job. But you also have to be grateful for little things like hitting all the green lights out of town or being approved at the grocery store when you use your card or your ability to have 10 choices for lunch at the deli.

Be grateful for the good things and not so good things. So, be grateful for a sunny days and be grateful for the rainy days. Both provide beneficial results and we need both.

Smile. Smile all the time.

Smiling is contagious. When you smile at someone, they smile back. They can’t help it. It feels good to smile because smiling releases the “feel good” chemical in your brain.

Studies show that smiling releases dopamine, endorphins and serotonin. When you smile these are released but they are also released by the person you smiled AT ! But even more telling is that a 3rd person who observed 2 people smiling at each other ALSO gets a release of feel good chemicals! So just seeing other people smile at each other makes you feel good. More interesting is that even a fake smile will release the feel good chemicals.

So even if you don’t feel like smiling, smile anyway. FAKE SMILE. Yes, Fake Smile. Dopamine, endorphins and serotonin will be released in your brain, and you will feel good. Fake it ’till you make it.

Believe that something GREAT is going to happen to you today.

As you are getting ready in the morning and going through your morning rituals, add this statement to your ritual: “Something great is going to happen to me today!” and believe that it will. You won’t be wrong. At some point in the day, you will say, “That was great !”

Be a Giver.

When you GIVE, Universal energy feels it and gives you more to give. It knows that good things will be redistributed through you and more comes to you – maybe even more that you can give away. You may give something to one person that allows THEM to give to another. The cycle of giving is felt by the Universal energy and more comes to you.

Giving includes more than just items or money. You can give a compliment, hold a door or help carry a heavy load. You can just give an open ear to someone who needs to be heard. You can just spend time with someone and make a memory. This is all giving. It costs you nothing but the rewards are unlimited. One time I was cleaning out my closet to give to the donation and the bags kept just filling up, then there were dishes and other stuff and I just said out loud, “The more I give, the more I have to give.” This has been true ever since.

We have all heard, “it is better to give than to receive.” I saw a comment on this phrase which claimed you must receive first or you will have nothing to give. Then it hit me – the giving is of yourself ! You give FIRST what you have inside you, what you were born with. The best giving is of your natural skills, talents, feelings – your humanity. THAT is what connects you to Universal energy. In the end, all receiving starts with another person giving. So, as I see it, it is all giving.
